Munford finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Munford finished sixth in Class 4A region four with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Munford was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Lions want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.6 points a game. Since 2010, Munford has gone a combined 78-57. Their 57.8% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Munford has managed to compile a record of 129-142. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 4A and 211st in the AHSAA. The Lions are led by head coach Michael Easley who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-17 over the past three seasons at Munford. The Lions have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Easley. Coach Easley's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 13-17 (43.3%). The Munford Lions will play in Class 4A region four during the 2022 season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Lions could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season. Munford has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2017 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Lions open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Childersburg on Friday, August 19 at John Cox Stadium. Last year the Childersburg Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 3A region four. The Tigers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Fayetteville by a score of 39-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Munford and Childersburg have met a total of 31 times on the football field. The Lions have a 15-16-0 record against the Tigers.
