 2022 Preview 


       Winterboro completed the 2021 season with a 7-5 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region five, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Winterboro reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Pickens County by a score of 38-16.

       Since 2010, Winterboro has gone a combined 70-58. Their 54.7% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Winterboro has managed to compile a record of 126-141. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 1A and 216th in the AHSAA.




       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Skylar Mansfield who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-7 over the past two seasons at Winterboro. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Mansfield.

       Coach Mansfield's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 16-7 (69.6%).

       The Winterboro Bulldogs will play in Class 1A region six during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Bulldogs remain in 1A but move from region five over to region six. The Bulldogs have one of the toughest schedules in Class 1A. Their opponents had a combined record of 64-47 last season. That ranks 3rd in Class 1A and 59th in the AHSAA.

       The Bulldogs should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Bulldogs open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Cedar Bluff on Friday, August 19 at Bruce Field. Last year the Cedar Bluff Tigers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in first place in Class 1A region seven. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Woodland by a score of 28-20.

       Winterboro and Cedar Bluff have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 1-2-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2004 with Cedar Bluff winning by a score of 35-26.
