2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Oakman completed the 2021 season with a 9-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region six, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Oakman reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Saks by a score of 36-22. The Wildcats won as many games as in any season since 2014. Since 2010, Oakman has gone a combined 92-48. Their 65.7% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Oakman has managed to compile a record of 149-125. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 3A and 151st in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Ryan Hall who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 22-12 over the past three seasons at Oakman. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hall. Coach Hall's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 22-12 (64.7%). The Oakman Wildcats will play in Class 3A region five during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Wildcats remain in 3A but move from region six over to region five. The Wildcats have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 65-47 last season. That ranks 8th in Class 3A and 59th in the AHSAA. Region five will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Wildcats enter the 2022 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak. The Wildcats will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region five this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2010 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2022. The Wildcats open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Sulligent on Friday, August 19 at Brown Stadium. Last year the Sulligent Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in fourth place in Class 2A region five. The Blue Devils lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Southeastern by a score of 37-18. Oakman and Sulligent have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 2-4-0 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in 2013 with Oakman winning by a score of 41-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
