 2022 Preview 


       West Morgan completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. Last year West Morgan just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region eight with a 3-4 region record.

       The Rebels improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2017.

       Since 2010, West Morgan has gone a combined 40-83. Their 32.5% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, West Morgan has managed to compile a record of 143-129. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 4A and 156th in the AHSAA.




       The Rebels are led by head coach Drew Phillips who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-5 record in his first season at West Morgan. The Rebels saw improvement from a 3-7 record the season before coach Phillips arrived. The Rebels have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Phillips.

       Coach Phillips' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 5-5 (50.0%).

       The West Morgan Rebels will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Rebels remain in 4A but move from region eight over to region seven.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Rebels could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season. West Morgan has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2017 but hope to return to the post season this year.

       The Rebels open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Randolph on Friday, August 19 at SportsMed Field. Last year the Randolph Raiders finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in second place in Class 4A region seven. The Raiders lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Brooks by a score of 42-21.

       West Morgan and Randolph have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 3-2-0 record against the Raiders. They last met in 2019 with Randolph winning by a score of 32-25.
