2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Albertville finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Albertville finished eighth in Class 7A region four with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Aggies lost as many games as in any season since 2012. The defense allowed a team record 453 points last season. The Aggies last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Albertville was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Aggies want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.2 points a game. Albertville struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 45.3 points a game. The Aggies would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, Albertville has gone a combined 55-69. Their 44.4% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 7A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Albertville has managed to compile a record of 103-156. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 7A and 284th in the AHSAA. The Aggies are led by head coach Chip English who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Albertville. The Aggies have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach English. Coach English's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 17-34 (33.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach English's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The Albertville Aggies will play in Class 7A region four during the 2022 season. The Aggies enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 6 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Aggies will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region four. The Aggies open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Arab on Thursday, August 18 at McCord Field. Last year the Arab Arabian Knights finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 6A region seven. The Arabian Knights lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Homewood by a score of 42-14. Albertville and Arab have met a total of 84 times on the football field. The Aggies have a 46-34-4 record against the Arabian Knights. They last met in 2021 with Arab winning by a score of 35-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
