Jasper completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Jasper just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region six with a 1-5 region record. The defense allowed a team record 327 points last season. Since 2010, Jasper has gone a combined 84-49. Their 63.2% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Jasper has gone a combined 189-92. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 5A and 55th in the AHSAA. The Vikings are led by head coach Philip Bailey who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-12 over the past two seasons at Jasper. The Vikings have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bailey. Coach Bailey's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 8-12 (40.0%). The Jasper Vikings will play in Class 5A region five during the 2022 season. The Vikings may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region five this year. With a little luck and some improvement, the Vikings could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region five this season. Jasper missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2022. The Vikings open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Center Point on Friday, August 19 at Ki-Ro/Gambrell Field. Last year the Center Point Eagles finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in third place in Class 5A region six. The Eagles lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 5A playoffs to Pleasant Grove by a score of 49-21. Jasper and Center Point have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Vikings have a 14-3-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2017 with Jasper winning by a score of 30-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
