 2023 Preview 


       East Limestone completed the 2022 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region eight, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. East Limestone's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Arab by a score of 54-14.

       The defense allowed a team record 348 points last season.

       Since 2010, East Limestone has gone a combined 74-65. Their 53.2% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 5A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, East Limestone has managed to compile a record of 153-121. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 5A and 124th in the AHSAA.




       The Indians are led by head coach Clint Woodfin who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-6 record in his first season at East Limestone. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Woodfin. Over the course of his career, Coach Woodfin's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

       The Indians could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season with a few breaks and a little improvement.

       The Indians open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Athens on Thursday, August 24 at Cavnar Stadium. Last year the Athens Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 6A region seven. The Golden Eagles ended last season on a positive note with a win over Russellville by a score of 32-31 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       East Limestone and Athens have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Indians have a 6-10-0 record against the Golden Eagles. They last met in 2022 with Athens winning by a score of 49-14.
