Phil Campbell completed the 2022 season with a 7-4 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region eight, the Bobcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Phil Campbell's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Madison Academy by a score of 49-28. The Bobcats last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, the Phil Campbell football program has struggled with a record of 46-89. Over the past 25 seasons, Phil Campbell has managed to compile a record of 94-170. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 3A and 316th in the AHSAA. The Bobcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Jacob Hamilton as they enter the 2023 season. Coach Hamilton comes over from Tharptown where he was the head football coach last season. The Bobcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Unfortunately, Phil Campbell finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any chance at the postseason. The Bobcats open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Hackleburg on Friday, August 25 at Parrish Stadium. Last year the Hackleburg Panthers finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 1A region eight. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Coosa Christian by a score of 51-8. Phil Campbell and Hackleburg have met a total of 89 times on the football field.
