Pisgah completed the 2022 season with a 11-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region seven, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Pisgah made a nice playoff run in 2022, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Fyffe team by the score of 41-14. The Eagles won as many games as in any season since 2003. Since 2010, Pisgah has gone a combined 63-77. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Pisgah has managed to compile a record of 134-140. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 2A and 195th in the AHSAA. The Eagles are led by head coach Luke Pruitt who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 29-28 over the past five seasons at Pisgah. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won one region crown with Coach Pruitt. The Eagles won eleven games for the first time since the 2003 football season. Are they ready to dethrone Fyffe for a region crown? Their fans think so. Pisgah returns eight starters to an offense that set the school record for points scored last season. The also return eight players to the defense. The expectations are higher than ever at Pisgah. The Eagles are considered one of the favorites for the region seven championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Eagles are making another deep run into the playoffs. QB Mason Holcomb will return for his senior season. He holds all school records in passing and has over 5,500 yards passing and 50 TDs. Players to watch this season include LB Legion McCrary, OL/LB JD Martin, WR/DB Luke Gilbert, WR/DB Jakob Kirby and OL/DL JJ Williams. Luke Gilbert intercepted three passes, averaged 4.8 tackles per game. He caught 36 passes for 837 yards and 13 touchdowns and ran for 372 yards. The Eagles open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Lexington on Friday, September 1 at Sam Kenimer Stadium. Last year the Lexington Golden Bears finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in first place in Class 2A region eight. The Golden Bears lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Tuscaloosa Academy by a score of 23-20. Pisgah and Lexington have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 2-0-0 record against the Golden Bears. They last met in 2022 with Pisgah winning by a score of 29-28. Pisgah lost 2A All-State linebacker Caiden Hawkins to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. The Eagles return 2A All-State Junior receiver Luke Gilbert. He was named to the first team last season.
