 2024 Preview 


       Brindlee Mountain finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Brindlee Mountain finished seventh in Class 3A region seven with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The defense allowed a team record 526 points last season. The Lions have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Lions have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2024.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Brindlee Mountain averaged scoring just 7.9 points a game. The Lions also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 52.6 points a game.

       The Lions would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, the Brindlee Mountain football program has struggled with a record of 12-127.

       Over the past 18 seasons, Brindlee Mountain has not won much with a record of 16-163. Their 9.0% winning percentage ranks 62nd in Class 3A and 391st in the AHSAA. The Lions have struggled on the football field with no winning seasons during this time.

Coaching Change:
     Joshua Bailey  departs from Brindlee Mountain after a single season that saw his team finish with an 0-10 record.

2024 Head Coach:
    Jake Pittman  was promoted to the head coaching position in May following the departure of Joshua Bailey earlier.

Season Outlook:

       The Brindlee Mountain Lions will play in Class 3A region eight during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Lions remain in 3A but move from region seven over to region eight.

      

       The Lions enter the 2024 season in the middle of a 17 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       The Lions will be out to improve on the 0-10 record from last season. First year head coach is hoping to build a football program at Brindlee Mountain in his first season at the helm. It will take time.

       Region 8 had a total makeover during the off season. While the AHSAA not only combined Geraldine and Sylvania with Asbury and Brindlee Mountain they moved four schools up in classification from 2A to join them. Fyffe, Collinsville, Holly Pond and Whitesburg Christian will all be united in what is now Region 8.

    This season, the Lions will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region eight. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Brindlee Mountain will be to simply win some games.

Season Opener:
       The Lions open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent D.A.R. on Friday, August 23 at Lions Den. Last year the D.A.R. Patriots finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 4A region eight.

       Brindlee Mountain and D.A.R. have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Lions have a 3-14-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2021 with D.A.R. winning by a score of 39-2.
