Park Crossing finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Park Crossing finished seventh in Class 6A region two with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Park Crossing averaged scoring just 8.8 points a game. The Thunderbirds would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-16 record. Park Crossing is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only ten seasons. They have managed a record of 58-52 over the past ten years. Over the past 10 seasons, Park Crossing has managed to compile a record of 58-52. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 6A and 168th in the AHSAA. Coaching Change: Ty Lockett leaves Park Crossing after just two seasons with a 3-16 record on the football field. The relatively new program was very successful out of the gate back in 2014 winning 38 games their first four seasons but have only finished the past six seasons with a total of twenty victories. This will be the fifth head football coach at the school since they first played varsity football. 2024 Head Coach: Charles Biggers begins a new era at Park Crossing as the head football coach. This will be his first head coaching job after serving as the head football and wrestling coach at McKee Middle School. He will bring a new excitement to the football program as he works to rebuild the still young program. After the program began strong just ten seasons ago they have struggled the past few seasons. Season Outlook: The Park Crossing Thunderbirds will play in Class 6A region two during the 2024 season. Over the course of the last three seasons at Park Crossing the Thunderbirds have won only five football games and will begin this season with a new head football coach in Charles Biggers. Can he revive the program and get it back to where it was in 2016-17 when the Thunderbirds won 24 games in two seasons? Only two opponents on the Thunderbirds' 2024 schedule qualified for the playoffs last season. Some of the teams will be much improved in the region but Park Crossing will enter the season with an outside shot at one of those playoff spots in 2024. This season, the Thunderbirds will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two. Returning Starters: FS/RB Elijah Tarver, RB/MLB Mikael James Season Opener: The Thunderbirds open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Selma on Friday, August 23 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Selma Saints finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in fifth place in Class 5A region three. Park Crossing and Selma have met a total of 3 times on the football field.
