2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Autaugaville finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Autaugaville finished seventh in Class 1A region four with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Autaugaville took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2019. Autaugaville was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Eagles want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.5 points a game. Autaugaville struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 37.0 points a game. Since 2010, Autaugaville has gone a combined 62-82. Their 43.1% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 1A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Autaugaville has managed to compile a record of 134-135. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 1A and 196th in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Eagles are led by head coach Javaris Jackson who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 27-34 over the past six seasons at Autaugaville. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jackson. Over the course of his career, Coach Jackson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . Season Outlook: The Autaugaville Eagles will play in Class 1A region four during the 2024 season. After going 6-5 in 2022 the Eagles fell off a little last year by finishing with a record of 3-7 and missing the playoffs. Can they get back to the post season in 2024? The Eagles will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. Autaugaville simply does not have the numbers to be competitive on the football field at this time. With just 55 students, the Eagles are one of the smallest schools playing the game and have little chance of being successful. Season Opener: The Eagles open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Prattville Christian on Friday, August 23 at Eagles Nest Stadium. Last year the Prattville Christian Panthers finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 3A region three. The Panthers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Monroe County by a score of 44-16 after failing to gain a playoff spot. This will be the second meeting between Autaugaville and Prattville Christian on the football field. The Eagles have a 0-1-0 record against the Panthers.
