Boaz completed the 2023 season with a 6-6 record. With their 2-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region seven, the Pirates earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Boaz reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Pleasant Grove by a score of 49-7.

Since 2010, Boaz has gone a combined 65-86. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 5A over the past fourteen seasons.

Head Coach:
The Pirates are led by head coach Jeremy Sullivan who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 35-42 over the past seven seasons at Boaz. Under his direction the Pirates have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sullivan. Over the course of his career, Coach Sullivan's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times .

Season Outlook:

The Boaz Pirates will play in Class 5A region eight during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Pirates remain in 5A but move from region seven over to region eight.

The Pirates won a playoff game for the first time since the 2008 football season so it was a step forward with last year's team. This year Boaz is loaded with talent at the skilled positions so fans can look forward to more than six victories in 2024 hopefully.

Boaz will be loaded on offense this season as they return starters at QB, RB and WR. They actually return nine starters to the offense and seven to the defense. Look for the Pirates to make some noise in 5A north this season.

Coach Sullivan said this about the Pirates in 2024. ''It's a tough region. Hope to have a good regular season and some success in the playoffs.''

The Pirates have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region eight this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2017 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2024.

Players to Watch in 2024:
QB Tyler Pierce will be returning after completing 133-of-242 passes for 1,814 yards and 15 TDs last season. He also added another 473 yards rushing.

RB Tristan Childers will be returning for his senior season after rushing for 1,318 yards and 19 TDs last season. RB Presley Fant will also be returning for his junior season after rushing for 440 yards and 4 TDs last season.

WR Jakai Hudgins will also be back for his senior season after catching 53 passes for 869 yards and 8 TDs in 2023.
