2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Keith completed the 2023 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region three, the Bears earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Keith's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Georgiana by a score of 61-0. Since 2010, Keith has gone a combined 84-70. Their 54.5% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 1A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Keith has managed to compile a record of 119-145. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 1A and 247th in the AHSAA. Graduated All-State Players: Keith lost 1A All-State linebacker Jarius Sanders to graduation. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. Head Coach: The Bears are led by head coach Anthony Lumpkin who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 39-28 over the past six seasons at Keith. Under his direction the Bears have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won one region crown with Coach Lumpkin. Season Outlook: The Keith Bears will play in Class 1A region four during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Bears remain in 1A but move from region three over to region four. Coach Lumpkin has built a very nice football program at Keith over the past six seasons. The Bears are very competitive and would like to take that next step and be a factor in 1A South this season. The Bears should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. Season Opener: The Bears open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Calhoun on Friday, August 23 at Samuel Bruce Stadium. Last year the Calhoun Tigers finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in fourth place in Class 1A region four. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Leroy by a score of 40-7. Keith and Calhoun have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Bears have a 15-5-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2017 with Keith winning by a score of 49-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
