2024 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Notasulga completed the 2023 season with a 5-5 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region four, the Blue Devils earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Notasulga's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Millry by a score of 55-0. Since 2010, Notasulga has gone a combined 87-68. Their 56.1% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 1A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Notasulga has managed to compile a record of 140-133. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 1A and 167th in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Blue Devils are led by head coach Anthony Jones who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 55-43 over the past nine seasons at Notasulga. Under his direction the Blue Devils have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times. They have won one region crown with Coach Jones. Season Outlook: The Notasulga Blue Devils will play in Class 1A region four during the 2024 season. Coach Anthony Jones watched his Blue Devils improve from 1-8 to 5-5 last season. They reached the playoffs and would like nothing better than to build on that success in 2024. The Blue Devils could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Notasulga simply does not have the numbers to be competitive on the football field at this time. With just 65 students, the Blue Devils are one of the smallest schools playing the game and have little chance of being successful. Season Opener: The Blue Devils open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Loachapoka on Saturday, August 24 at Loachapoka Stadium. Last year the Loachapoka Indians finished with an overall record of 10-1 and in first place in Class 1A region four. The Indians lost in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs to Brantley by a score of 14-12. Notasulga and Loachapoka have met a total of 50 times on the football field. The Blue Devils have a 34-16-0 record against the Indians. They last met in 2023 with Loachapoka winning by a score of 12-6. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
