 2024 Preview

Whitesburg Christian finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Whitesburg Christian finished eighth in Class 2A region seven with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Warriors have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Warriors have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2024.

Whitesburg Christian was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Warriors want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.5 points a game.

Whitesburg Christian is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only four seasons. They have managed a record of 12-28 over the past four years.

Coaching Change:
Jimmy Nave  leaves Whitesburg Christian after three seasons with a record of 10-20. The young football program has not found success yet on the field but his second team did finish with a break even 5-5 record. The veteran coach has compiles a record of 90-90 in 17 seasons as a head football coach at Tanner, Hazel Green and Whitesburg Christian.

2024 Head Coach:
Jere Adcock  returns to the sidelines after sitting out a year of retirement. Adcock spent 27 seasons as the head football coach at Decatur High School with a record of 187-120. His teams qualified for the playoffs twenty-one of those seasons and won seven region championships along the way.

The Warriors of Whitesburg Christian are still building their football program after just four seasons in the AHSAA and Coach Adcock may just be the person to lead that progress in the future. His 187 wins rank 19th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Adcock's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty-one times and won seven region championships.

Season Outlook:

The Whitesburg Christian Warriors will play in Class 3A region eight during the 2024 season. The Warriors move up in classification to Class 3A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

Veteran Coach Jere Adcock arrives at Whitesburg Christian this year in hopes of building a football program. Last year's 2-8 record was step backwards.

Region 8 had a total makeover during the off season. While the AHSAA not only combined Geraldine and Sylvania with Asbury and Brindlee Mountain they moved four schools up in classification from 2A to join them. Fyffe, Collinsville, Holly Pond and Whitesburg Christian will all be united in what is now Region 8.

The Warriors will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season. After just 2 wins last year, Whitesburg Christian will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

Players to Watch in 2024:
QB Kaleb Robinson will be returning for his senior season after completing 80-of-152 passes for 960 yards and 6 TDs last season.

Returning Starters:
WR/DB Brady Davis, RB/LB Tobin Jaeger, WR/LB Micah Patz, WR/DB Brady Davis, RB/DL Crews Cole, WR/DB Andrew Bolton

Season Opener:
The Warriors open the 2024 season at home against non-region opponent Cleveland on Friday, August 23 at Whitesburg Christian Stadium. Last year the Cleveland Panthers finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in fifth place in Class 2A region six. The Panthers closed out the regular season with a loss to Susan Moore by a score of 51-6.

This will be the second meeting between Whitesburg Christian and Cleveland on the football field. The Warriors have a 0-1-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in with
