 2016 Preview

Last year Bullock County finished eighth in Class 4A region 2 with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Hornets would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, the Bullock County football program has struggled with a record of 3-57.

Over the past 25 seasons, Bullock County has not won much with a record of 38-209. Their 15.0% winning percentage ranks 59th in Class 4A and 376th in the AHSAA.

The Hornets are led by head coach Heath Laney who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Bullock County. The Hornets have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Laney.

Coach Laney's overall record as a head football coach in one seasons stands at 1-9 (10.0%).

The Hornets enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

The Bullock County Hornets will play in Class 4A region 2 during the 2016 season.

This season, the Hornets will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in Region 2.

The Hornets open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Central Hayneville on Friday, August 26 at Bryant Foster Field. Last year the Central Hayneville Lions finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 2A region 3. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Keith by a score of 48-6.

Bullock County and Central Hayneville have met a total of 19 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 14-5-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2017 with Bullock County winning by a score of 58-34.
