 2016 Preview 


       With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region 3, the Gamecocks earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. New Brockton's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Flomaton by a score of 26-20.  The 464 points scored by the Gamecocks last year were a team record in a single season.

       Since 2010, New Brockton has gone a combined 34-30. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, New Brockton has managed to compile a record of 126-136. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 2A and 204th in the AHSAA.

       The Gamecocks are led by head coach Justin Jones who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-6 over the past two seasons at New Brockton. Under his direction the Gamecocks have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jones.

       Coach Jones's overall record as a head football coach in four seasons stands at 24-18 (57.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Jones's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

      

      The New Brockton Gamecocks will play in Class 2A region 3 during the 2016 season.

       The Gamecocks should contend for a playoff spot in Region 3 this season.

       The Gamecocks open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Georgiana on Friday, August 26 at Harmond Field. Last year the Georgiana Panthers finished with an overall record of 11-2 and in first place in Class 1A region 2. The Panthers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Maplesville by a score of 36-28.

       New Brockton and Georgiana have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Gamecocks have a 7-5-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2017 with Georgiana winning by a score of 41-6.

       New Brockton returns 2A All-State Senior punter Max Weeks. He was named to the second team last season.
