 2016 Preview 


       With their 3-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region 7, the Panthers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Woodville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Victory Christian by a score of 33-19.

       Since 2010, Woodville has gone a combined 10-51. Their 16.0% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 1A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Woodville has not won much with a record of 12-89. Their 12.0% winning percentage ranks 57th in Class 1A and 381st in the AHSAA.

       The Panthers are led by head coach Jay Powell who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-14 over the past two seasons at Woodville. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Powell.

       Coach Powell's overall record as a head football coach in two seasons stands at 7-14 (33.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Powell's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

      

      The Woodville Panthers will play in Class 1A region 6 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Panthers remain in 1A but move from region 7 over to region 6.

       The Panthers have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 6 this season.

       The Panthers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Asbury on Thursday, August 25.

       Woodville and Asbury have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 3-1-0 record against the Rams. They last met in 2022 with Asbury winning by a score of 36-32.
