Austin completed the 2016 season with a 10-4 record. Last year Austin captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 6A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-1 record. It was the first region championship for the Black Bears since the 1999 season. Austin made a nice playoff run in 2016, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Ramsay team by the score of 25-14. Since 2010, Austin has gone a combined 45-35.
