2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Albertville completed the 2017 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Albertville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region seven with a 2-4 region record. The Aggies last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Albertville has gone a combined 52-52. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 6A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 29 seasons, Albertville has managed to compile a record of 103-156. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 6A and 255th in the AHSAA. The Aggies are led by head coach Dale Pruitt who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-12 over the past three seasons at Albertville. Under his direction the Aggies have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Pruitt. Coach Pruitt's overall record as a head football coach in thirty-four season stands at 269-124 (68.4%). His 269 wins rank 6th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Pruitt's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty-four times and won thirteen region championships. He has a 32-24 record in the playoffs during his career. The playoff victories rank with the best among active coaches. The Albertville Aggies will play in Class 6A region eight during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Aggies remain in 6A but move from region seven over to region eight. With a little luck and some improvement, the Aggies could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season. The Aggies open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Columbia on Friday, August 31 at McCord Field. Last year the Columbia Eagles finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 6A region eight. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Lee Huntsville by a score of 42-0. Albertville and Columbia have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Aggies have a 5-0-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2017 with Albertville winning by a score of 56-13. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
