2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lee completed the 2017 season with a 8-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region eight, the Generals earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Lee reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Briarwood by a score of 35-14. The Generals won as many games as in any season since 2005. The defense was very stingy last season as Lee Huntsville ranked 46th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.5 points a game. Since 2010, Lee has gone a combined 33-50. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 6A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lee has managed to compile a record of 97-153. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 6A and 290th in the AHSAA. The Generals will be under the direction of new head football coach Jerry Ross as they enter the 2018 season. The Lee Generals will play in Class 6A region eight during the 2018 season. The Generals move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. The Generals should be in contention for a playoff spot in region eight this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Generals open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Columbia on Friday, August 24 at Milton Frank Stadium. Last year the Columbia Eagles finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in eighth place in Class 6A region eight. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Lee Huntsville by a score of 42-0. Lee and Columbia have met a total of 14 times on the football field.
