Vigor completed the 2017 season with a 9-4 record. Last year Vigor captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-1 record. Vigor lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Demopolis team by a score of 35-14. The Wolves won as many games as in any season since 2011. The defense was very stingy last season as Vigor ranked 44th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.2 points a game. Since 2010, Vigor has gone a combined 59-37. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Vigor has gone a combined 199-89. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 5A and 36th in the AHSAA. The Wolves have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. The Wolves are led by head coach Deric Scott who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 24-12 over the past three seasons at Vigor. Under his direction the Wolves have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Scott. Coach Scott's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 24-12 (66.7%). The Vigor Wolves will play in Class 5A region one during the 2018 season. The Wolves enter the 2018 season riding a 7 game regular season winning streak. The Wolves should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Wolves open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Blount on Friday, August 24 at Prichard Stadium. Last year the Blount Leopards finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 6A region one.
