 2022 Preview

Fayetteville finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Fayetteville finished sixth in Class 2A region four with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Fayetteville struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 35.2 points a game.

Since 2010, Fayetteville has gone a combined 44-79. Their 35.8% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Fayetteville has not won much with a record of 73-175. Their 29.0% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 2A and 355th in the AHSAA.

The Wolves are led by head coach John Limbaugh who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 40-63 over the past ten seasons at Fayetteville. Under his direction the Wolves have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Limbaugh.

Coach Limbaugh's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 40-63 (38.8%).

The Fayetteville Wolves will play in Class 2A region four during the 2022 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Wolves if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season.

The Wolves open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Verbena on Friday, August 26 at Red Devil Stadium. Last year the Verbena Red Devils finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 1A region four.

Fayetteville and Verbena have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Wolves have a 7-7-0 record against the Red Devils. They last met in 2013 with Fayetteville winning by a score of 57-20.
