Lexington completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region eight, the Golden Bears earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Lexington's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Southeastern by a score of 48-28. The Golden Bears improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2016. It marked the first time since the 2016 season that the Golden Bears qualified for the playoffs. The defense was very stingy last season as Lexington ranked 23rd in the AHSAA. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Oakman by a score of 36-7. Lexington and Colbert Heights have met a total of 31 times on the football field.
