2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pisgah completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. Last year Pisgah captured the region seven title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-1 record. It was the first region championship for the Eagles since the 2003 season. Pisgah's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Sulligent by a score of 52-38. The Eagles improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2014. The Eagles won as many games as in any season since 2010. Since 2010, Pisgah has gone a combined 52-74. Their 41.3% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Pisgah has managed to compile a record of 123-137. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 2A and 220th in the AHSAA. The Eagles are led by head coach Luke Pruitt who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 18-25 over the past four seasons at Pisgah. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won one region crown with Coach Pruitt. Coach Pruitt's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 18-25 (41.9%). The Pisgah Eagles will play in Class 2A region seven during the 2022 season. The Eagles have one of the toughest schedules in Class 2A. Their opponents had a combined record of 60-48 last season. That ranks 5th in Class 2A and 82nd in the AHSAA. The Eagles enter the 2022 season riding a 7 game regular season winning streak. The Eagles should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Eagles open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Lexington on Friday, August 26 at McMeans Stadium. Last year the Lexington Golden Bears finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 2A region eight. The Golden Bears lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Southeastern by a score of 48-28. Pisgah and Lexington have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 2-0-0 record against the Golden Bears. They last met in with Pisgah returns 2A All-State Junior offensive lineman JD Martin. He was named to the second team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
