Madison County completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 4A region seven, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Madison County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Northside by a score of 35-31. Since 2010, Madison County has gone a combined 79-57. Their 58.1% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Madison County has managed to compile a record of 139-132. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 4A and 177th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Matt Putnam who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-6 record in his first season at Madison County. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Putnam. Coach Putnam's overall record as a head football coach in twelve season stands at 69-60 (53.5%). The Madison County Tigers will play in Class 4A region eight during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 4A but move from region seven over to region eight. The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region eight this season. The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Buckhorn on Friday, August 19 at Tommy R. Ledbetter Stadium. Last year the Buckhorn Bucks finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in sixth place in Class 6A region eight. Madison County and Buckhorn have met a total of 43 times on the football field.
