2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mae Jemison finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Mae Jemison just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region eight with a 2-4 region record. The defense allowed a team record 347 points last season. Mae Jemison is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only six seasons. They have managed a record of 31-35 over the past six years. The Jaguars are led by head coach Harold Wells who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 6-15 over the past two seasons at Mae Jemison. Under his direction the Jaguars have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Wells. Coach Wells' overall record as a head football coach in twenty-six season stands at 135-150 (47.4%). His 135 wins rank 37th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Wells' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fifteen times and won four region championships. The Mae Jemison Jaguars will play in Class 6A region eight during the 2022 season. The Jaguars move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. It will be an uphill battle for the Jaguars if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season. After just 2 wins last year, Mae Jemison will be hoping to become more competitive in the region. The Jaguars open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Decatur on Friday, August 19 at Louis Crews Stadium. Last year the Decatur Red Raiders finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 6A region eight. The Red Raiders lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Clay-Chalkville by a score of 42-0. Mae Jemison and Decatur have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Jaguars have a 1-2-0 record against the Red Raiders. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
