Slocomb completed the 2021 season with a 8-4 record. Last year Slocomb captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class 3A playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-1 record. Slocomb reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Hillcrest Evergreen by a score of 39-37. Since 2010, Slocomb has gone a combined 75-56. Their 57.3% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Slocomb has managed to compile a record of 137-139. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 4A and 193rd in the AHSAA. The Red Tops will be under the direction of new head football coach Bryant Garrison as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Garrison was the defensive coordinator at Gwinnett Georgia last season. The Slocomb Red Tops will play in Class 4A region two during the 2022 season. The Red Tops move up in classification to Class 4A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. The Red Tops enter the 2022 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak. The Red Tops will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. The Red Tops open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Cottonwood on Friday, August 26 at Hicks Stadium. Last year the Cottonwood Bears finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 2A region two. Slocomb and Cottonwood have met a total of 40 times on the football field.
