Fayette County completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region five, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Fayette County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Randolph by a score of 38-0. Fayette County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.6 points a game. Since 2010, Fayette County has gone a combined 103-49. Their 67.8% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Fayette County has gone a combined 210-91. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 3A and 34th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Jared Porter as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Porter was an assistant coach at Fayette County last season. The Fayette County Tigers will play in Class 3A region five during the 2022 season. The Tigers may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 4A to 3A. They will compete in region five this year. Region five will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region five this season. The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Cordova on Thursday, August 18 at Hudson-Kerby Field. Last year the Cordova Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 5A region five. The Blue Devils closed out the regular season with a loss to Oakman by a score of 26-12. Fayette County and Cordova have met a total of 12 times on the football field.
