Plainview completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region seven, the Bears earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Plainview's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Saks by a score of 46-43. Since 2010, Plainview has gone a combined 81-52. Their 60.9% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Plainview has managed to compile a record of 186-99. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 3A and 65th in the AHSAA. The Bears have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. The Bears will be under the direction of new head football coach Dale Pruitt as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Pruitt was the head football coach at Marion County High School in Tennessee last season. He returns to Plainview for the third time during his long career. Coach Pruitt's overall record as a head football coach in thirty-five season stands at 275-129 (68.1%). His 275 wins rank 4th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Pruitt's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty-five times and won thirteen region championships. He has a 32-25 record in the playoffs during his career. The playoff victories rank with the best among active coaches. The Plainview Bears will play in Class 3A region six during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Bears remain in 3A but move from region seven over to region six. The Bears have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 70-43 last season. That ranks 2nd in Class 3A and 26th in the AHSAA. The Bears will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region six this season. The Bears open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Priceville on Friday, August 19 at Bulldog Stadium. Last year the Priceville Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in second place in Class 4A region eight. The Bulldogs lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Madison Academy by a score of 35-7. Plainview and Priceville have met a total of 4 times on the football field.
