Ragland completed the 2021 season with a 9-3 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region five, the Purple Devils earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Ragland reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Decatur Heritage Christian by a score of 76-60. Since 2010, Ragland has gone a combined 91-47. Their 65.9% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Ragland has managed to compile a record of 187-98. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 1A and 59th in the AHSAA. The Purple Devils are led by head coach Wes Tidwell who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 9-3 record in his first season at Ragland. Under his direction the Purple Devils have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Tidwell. The Purple Devils open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Vincent on Friday, August 19 at Harold Garrett Stadium. Last year the Vincent Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 2A region four. The Yellow Jackets ended last season on a positive note with a win over Prattville Christian by a score of 34-6 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Ragland and Vincent have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Purple Devils have a 3-5-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 1957 with Ragland winning by a score of 14-6. Ragland returns 1A All-State Junior linebacker Ethan Courtney. He was named to the first team last season. The Purple Devils also return Senior receiver Jordan Turner.
