Reeltown completed the 2022 season with a 10-2 record. Last year Reeltown captured the region three title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. Reeltown lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good B.B. Comer team by a score of 28-22. The defense was very stingy last season as Reeltown ranked 9th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 10.9 points a game. Since 2010, Reeltown has gone a combined 111-46. Their 70.7% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Reeltown has finished a combined 212-96. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 2A and 47th in the AHSAA. The Rebels have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2007. The Rebels are led by head coach Matt Johnson who is entering his eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 55-27 over the past seven seasons at Reeltown. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Johnson. Coach Johnson returns plenty of talented players at the skilled positions in 2023. Look for the Reeltown Rebels to be in the thick of things all season. The Rebels enter the 2023 season riding a 8 game regular season winning streak. Reeltown has won 10 consecutive region games. They have won 8 straight games on their home turf at Nix-Webster-Oneal Stadium. The Rebels are considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Rebels open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Tallassee on Thursday, August 24 at Nix-Webster-Oneal Stadium. Last year the Tallassee Tigers finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in third place in Class 5A region four. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Charles Henderson by a score of 34-7. Reeltown and Tallassee have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 10-10-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Tallassee winning by a score of 37-13. Reeltown lost 2A All-State offensive lineman Logan Dillard to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. The Rebels return 2A All-State Junior defensive back Tae Martin.
