2024 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Shoals Christian completed the 2023 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region eight, the Flame earned a spot in the playoffs in 2023. Shoals Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lynn by a score of 53-7. The Flame won as many games as in any season since 2012. It marked the first time since the 2016 season that the Flame qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Shoals Christian has gone a combined 50-97. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 1A over the past fourteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Shoals Christian has managed to compile a record of 99-152. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 1A and 289th in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Flame are led by head coach Brett Vick who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-6 record in his first season at Shoals Christian. The Flame saw improvement from a 2-7 record the season before coach Vick arrived. Under his direction the Flame have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Vick. Season Outlook: The Shoals Christian Flame will play in Class 1A region seven during the 2024 season. Following realignment, the Flame remain in 1A but move from region eight over to region seven. Coach Vick did a great job last year of getting the Flames competitive in Region 7. After starting the season 4-0 they finished 5-6 but did grab one of the four playoffs spots. They could find themselves back in the mix for another playoff slot in 2024. The five wins last year were the most for the program since 2012 so they are improving. The Flame have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region seven this season. Season Opener: The Flame open the 2024 season on the road against non-region opponent Belgreen on Friday, August 23. This will be the second meeting between Shoals Christian and Belgreen on the football field. The Flame have a 0-1-0 record against the Bulldogs.
