East Limestone completed the 2017 season with a 5-5 record. Last year East Limestone finished sixth in Class 5A region eight with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Since 2010, East Limestone has gone a combined 45-40. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, East Limestone has managed to compile a record of 152-115. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 5A and 118th in the AHSAA. The Indians are led by head coach Jeff Pugh who is entering his thirteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 71-60 over the past twelve seasons at East Limestone. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won one region crown with Coach Pugh. Coach Pugh's overall record as a head football coach in eighteen season stands at 102-92 (52.6%). His 102 wins rank 60th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Pugh's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times and won two region championships. The East Limestone Indians will play in Class 5A region eight during the 2018 season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Indians could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season. East Limestone missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2018. The Indians open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent West Limestone on Thursday, August 30 at East Limestone Stadium. Last year the West Limestone Wildcats finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 4A region eight. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Fayette County by a score of 21-12. East Limestone and West Limestone have met a total of 53 times on the football field.
