2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gadsden City finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Gadsden City just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 7A region four with a 3-4 region record. Gadsden City took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2013. Since 2010, Gadsden City has gone a combined 51-41. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 7A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 12 seasons, Gadsden City has managed to compile a record of 88-53. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 7A and 75th in the AHSAA. The Titans are led by head coach Bart Sessions who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Gadsden City. The Titans have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sessions. Coach Sessions' overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 39-20 (66.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Sessions' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won two region championships. The Gadsden City Titans will play in Class 7A region four during the 2018 season. The Titans have one of the toughest schedules in Class 7A. Their opponents had a combined record of 76-41 last season. That ranks 4th in Class 7A and 10th in the AHSAA. It will be an uphill battle for the Titans if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. The Titans open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Etowah on Friday, August 24 at Jim Glover Field. Last year the Etowah Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 11-2 and in first place in Class 5A region seven. The Blue Devils lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 5A playoffs to Briarwood by a score of 31-0. Gadsden City and Etowah have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Titans have a 6-2-0 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in 2009 with Gadsden City winning by a score of 51-6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
