Etowah completed the 2017 season with a 11-2 record. Last year Etowah captured the region seven title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Blue Devils since the 2011 season. Etowah lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Briarwood team by a score of 31-0. The Blue Devils won as many games as in any season since 1999. The defense was very stingy last season as Etowah ranked 42nd in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.2 points a game. Since 2010, Etowah has gone a combined 63-29. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Etowah has managed to compile a record of 181-92. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 5A and 55th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2009. The Blue Devils are led by head coach Drew Noles who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 40-18 over the past five seasons at Etowah. Over the course of his career, Coach Noles' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fourteen times and won one region championship. The Etowah Blue Devils will play in Class 5A region six during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Blue Devils remain in 5A but move from region seven over to region six.
