Geneva County completed the 2017 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region two, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Geneva County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Thorsby by a score of 42-14. It marked the first time since the 2014 season that the Bulldogs qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Geneva County has gone a combined 45-41. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 2A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Geneva County has managed to compile a record of 126-131. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 2A and 197th in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Jim Bob Striplin who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 10-11 over the past two seasons at Geneva County. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Striplin. Coach Striplin's overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 41-44 (48.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Striplin's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times . The Geneva County Bulldogs will play in Class 2A region two during the 2018 season. The Bulldogs will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. The Bulldogs open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Samson on Friday, August 24 at Alva Hawk Stadium. Last year the Samson Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 2A region two. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Aliceville by a score of 46-14. Geneva County and Samson have met a total of 72 times on the football field.
