Ranburne completed the 2017 season with a 5-7 record. With their 3-4 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region five, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Ranburne reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Lamar County by a score of 17-7. Since 2010, Ranburne has gone a combined 54-35. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 2A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Ranburne has managed to compile a record of 128-121. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 2A and 169th in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Stephen Bailey who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-15 over the past two seasons at Ranburne. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bailey. Coach Bailey's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 7-15 (31.8%). The Ranburne Bulldogs will play in Class 2A region six during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Bulldogs remain in 2A but move from region five over to region six. With a little luck and some improvement, the Bulldogs could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region six this season. The Bulldogs open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Glencoe on Friday, August 31 at Ranburne Stadium. Last year the Glencoe Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 3A region five. The Yellow Jackets closed out the regular season with a loss to Southside Gadsden by a score of 56-0. Ranburne and Glencoe have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 2-1-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 1947 with Glencoe winning by a score of 69-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
