 2022 Preview 


       Theodore completed the 2021 season with a 10-2 record. With their 7-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 7A region one, the Bobcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Theodore reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Central Phenix City by a score of 77-41.

       The 449 points scored by the Bobcats last year were a team record in a single season.

       Since 2010, Theodore has gone a combined 69-58. Their 54.3% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Theodore has managed to compile a record of 156-116. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 6A and 117th in the AHSAA.




       The Bobcats are led by head coach Eric Collier who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 58-40 over the past nine seasons at Theodore. Under his direction the Bobcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Collier.

       Coach Collier's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen season stands at 68-70 (49.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Collier's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won two region championships.

       The Bobcats may have dropped down to 5A but the philosophy will not change with the move. Coach Collier intends to run the ball and play defense.

       The Theodore Bobcats will play in Class 6A region one during the 2022 season. The Bobcats may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 7A to 6A. They will compete in region one this year. Theodore will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

       The Bobcats will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season.

      

       The Bobcats open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Baker on Friday, August 19 at C.A. Douglas Field. Last year the Baker Hornets finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 7A region one. The Hornets lost in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs to Auburn by a score of 39-3.

       Theodore and Baker have met a total of 59 times on the football field. The Bobcats have a 48-10-1 record against the Hornets. They last met in 2021 with Theodore winning by a score of 36-31.

       Theodore returns 7A All-State  defensive back Will James. He was named to the second team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
