Whitesburg Christian completed the 2022 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Whitesburg Christian finished sixth in Class 2A region seven with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Warriors enjoyed the first winning season in the school's history in 2022. No team at Whitesburg Christian ever won more games in a season than the five victories last year. The 267 points scored by the Warriors last year were a team record in a single season. The Warriors have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Warriors have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2023. Whitesburg Christian is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only three seasons. They have managed a record of 10-20 over the past three years. The Warriors are led by head coach Jimmy Nave who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-12 over the past two seasons at Whitesburg Christian. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Nave. Over the course of his career, Coach Nave's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won four region championships. The Warriors could be on the verge of landing their first ever playoff spot in their brief history this fall. The Warriors have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region seven this season. Whitesburg Christian has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 0 but hope to return to the post season this year. QB Kaleb Robinson will be returning after completing 146 of 268 passes for 1,858 yards last season along with 28 touchdowns. The Warriors open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Woodville on Friday, August 25 at Frazier Field. Last year the Woodville Panthers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 1A region seven. The Panthers closed out the regular season with a loss to Asbury by a score of 36-32. Whitesburg Christian and Woodville have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 1-1-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in 2022 with Whitesburg Christian winning by a score of 47-8.
