Alabama All-Star Game
1974
The South All-Stars came through a rain drenched night with a 18-6 victory over the North All-Stars. Defensively the South limited the North to 15 yards rushing, which didn't compare with the South's 203 yards rushing. The South offence was sparked by a pair of Montgomery fullbacks - Kim Sellers of Robert E. Lee and Johnny Davis of Sidney Lanier, the Most Valuable Back in the Game.
Kim Sellers scored the first touchdown by carrying the ball 71 yards in 16 plays, all on the ground. Milford Fontaine of Montgomery kicked a 33-yard field goal to score for the South less than 3 minutes after the first touchdown.
Johnny Davis scored the final touchdown for the South when he ran 8 yards with 8:46 left in the 2nd quarter. South quarterback Steve Clark of Shades Valley hit Randy Nichols of Sweetwater with a pass for the 2-point conversion to give the South a 18-0 lead at half-time. The North scored its one and only touchdown with 7 minutes to play when quarterback Bobby Green of Ranburne ran 2 yards to score.
The South played well together as a team as you can tell by another South All-Star Victory of 18-6.
