 2016 Preview 


       With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region 8, the Panthers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Hackleburg reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Cedar Bluff by a score of 37-14.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Hackleburg has gone a combined 52-17. Their 75.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 1A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Hackleburg has managed to compile a record of 177-102. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 1A and 70th in the AHSAA.

       The Panthers are led by head coach Rod Hudson who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 66-18 over the past seven seasons at Hackleburg. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Hudson.

       Coach Hudson's overall record as a head football coach in seven seasons stands at 66-18 (78.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Hudson's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won three region championships.

      

      The Hackleburg Panthers will play in Class 1A region 8 during the 2016 season.

       The Panthers should be considered one of the favorites for the Region 8 championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Panthers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Marion County on Friday, August 26 at Ray Family Stadium. Last year the Marion County Red Raiders finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in fifth place in Class 1A region 6. The closed out the regular season with a loss to Red Bay by a score of 52-16.

       Hackleburg and Marion County have met a total of 81 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 32-46-3 record against the Red Raiders. They last met in 2019 with Marion County winning by a score of 26-6.

       Hackleburg returns 1A All-State Junior defensive lineman Cole Revis. He was named to the second team last season. The Panthers also return Senior quarterback Matt Harper. He was named to the honorable mention team.
