Foley completed the 2017 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Foley just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 7A region one with a 4-4 region record. Foley was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Lions want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.9 points a game. Since 2010, Foley has gone a combined 52-39. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 7A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Foley has managed to compile a record of 136-124. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 7A and 161st in the AHSAA. The Lions are led by head coach Tad Niblett who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-17 over the past three seasons at Foley. Under his direction the Lions have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Niblett. Coach Niblett's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 50-58 (46.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Niblett's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won one region championship. The Foley Lions will play in Class 7A region one during the 2018 season. The Lions will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. Foley missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season this year. The Lions open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Prattville on Friday, August 24 at Stanley Jenson Stadium. Last year the Prattville Lions finished with an overall record of 3-6 and in fifth place in Class 7A region two.
