 2022 Preview 


       Loachapoka completed the 2021 season with a 6-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region four, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Loachapoka's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Millry by a score of 28-18.

       The Indians improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2013. The Indians won as many games as in any season since 2013.

       Since 2010, Loachapoka has gone a combined 58-70. Their 45.3% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Loachapoka has managed to compile a record of 161-118. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 1A and 111st in the AHSAA.




       The Indians are led by head coach Frederick Newton who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-10 over the past two seasons at Loachapoka. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Newton.

       Coach Newton's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 16-25 (39.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Newton's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       The Loachapoka Indians will play in Class 1A region four during the 2022 season.

       The Indians will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season.

       The Indians open the 2022 season on a neutral field against non-region opponent LaFayette on Saturday, August 20 at . Last year the LaFayette Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class 2A region four. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Ariton by a score of 48-20.

       Loachapoka and LaFayette have met a total of 22 times on the football field. The Indians have a 10-12-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2017 with LaFayette winning by a score of 26-6.

       Loachapoka returns 1A All-State Senior defensive lineman Jamari Payne. He was named to the second team last season. The Indians also return Senior defensive back JC Hart. He was named to the second team.

The Super 6 State Championships began in 1996. Since then all title games were played at Legion Field in Birmingham until 2009.
