Alabama All-Star Game

Jimmy Sidle, quarterback from Banks High in Birmingham, engineered the South high school football team to a 13-0 victory over the heavier favored North team in the 14th annual All-Star game. Sidle could do no wrong as he led the South to two touchdowns in the first half. For his efforts, Sidle was selected the most valuable back in the 14th annual affair. Faylon McCullough from Enterprise, who played a beautiful defensive game, was named the most valuable lineman.

The South coaching staff was composed of John Jennings, Bay Minette; Ken Avinger, Lanett; Claude Ezell, Plantersville; Calvin Jones, Rehobeth; and Bob Norred, McAdory.

The North coaches were Vernon Wells, Ft. Payne; Bill Doty, Winston County; Jerry Lambert, Butler of Huntsville; Braxton Nail, Phillips; and Jack Stewart, Lineville.
