Alabama All-Star Game
1963
The North victory evened the sixteen year old series 7-7-2. Led by three terrific backs and a line that knew the meaning of the word "block", the North battled 66 yards for a touchdown the first time it got the ball. Gene Rayburn, 180 pound halfback from Walker County, led the assault, and he received ample support from Leslie Kelleym, Cullman, and Robert Hinds, Decatur. The strong running game that these boys produced must have made every coach in the stands drool with envy. Jimmy Isreal, Haleyville, joined in with this trio to make the four horsemen for the North.
Bud Mills, Head Coach from Cherokee, explained it all in the matter-of-fact way as his boys went about their work taking the Rebels apart.
